Self Levitations

Just when you thought the self levitation phase has died, out comes 2 (almost 3) new ones!

First off, the Icarus Effect. This little beauty will set you back $300 dollars...and I know that creators put super high prices on things just so the curious don't by the eBook for $9.95. Just about every online store has a video of it being performed, on the street. After a few viewings, you get a general idea of how the trick is done. The negative side, you need a balancing point. Whether it be a broom (?) or a spectators hand, this to me, subtracts from the magic aspect, and goes more towards stunt. "Watch me lift myself with little pressure." Also, most true magicians are past the "do magic for strangers on the street" phase. but this seems to be the only place you can do the trick. It wouldn't work on stage. Worth $300? To some people, yes... not to me.

on to the Criss Angel Levitation...

At only $100, its a steal compared to the Icarus...and its completely dif-oh wait, its the same thing. I have seen clips from the show, Mind Freak, of Criss levitating. All I can say is, if he doesn't teach how to levitate like he did in the show, then its a complete rip off...some of the levitations are just a little too good....so people are going to be lead to believe that's what they're getting...and that simply can't be done.

The only difference I saw, was Criss, took the same principle, as the Icaraus, and did it backwards. I don't know which came first, and it doesn't matter, all levtations are based on the same thing, so variations have been around forever.

And the proposed "Aliun" self leviation...

I got this off other blogs, so I've never heard of it before, but apparently the safety of the performer was in jeopardy, but from the demo vid, its looked really stiff, and unnatural.

What's the best self levitation?

Balducci, King, Icarus, Angel, Pocket, Zero Gravity?
They all have their drawbacks..but for pure impromptu, with out waving your jacket around, just stick with the Balducci, its cheap, easy, and sorta works.
